The Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) has welcomed NASA's "transformative direction" to establish a sustained human presence on the moon, adding that it will continue to partner with the administration to advance the project.
The $20 billion project aims to build a base on the moon's surface, with NASA further planning to send a nuclear-powered spacecraft to Mars.
The plans for the moon base included an aim to send more robotic landers, deploy a fleet of drones, and lay the groundwork for using nuclear power on the lunar surface in the next few years.
The lunar project expands on its Artemis moon programme, which would expand humanity's footprint in space.
In its statement, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) added that it would continue its engagement with the Artemis programme, as it "looks forward" to being part of the permanent lunar infrastructure project.
