UAE-US mediates exchange of 400 captives between Russia and Ukraine

The UAE-US joint mediation has led to the release of 400 prisoners of war between Russia and Ukraine.

The latest exchange operation included 200 prisoners from each side, meaning the total number of prisoners exchanged between the two countries stands at 5,355.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its gratitude to Russia and Ukraine for cooperation with the UAE-US mediation efforts, reflecting their appreciation for the endeavors aimed at finding solutions to the crisis.

The ministry also noted that the UAE had conducted a total of 19 mediations during the crisis, reflecting the depth of its relations with both Russia and Ukraine and the trust it enjoys with both parties.

It stressed that the UAE, based on its close partnerships and balanced relations with all parties, continues to support all efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive political settlement to the crisis.

So far, the UAE has hosted two rounds of trilateral talks between Russia, Ukraine and the US in Abu Dhabi, which embodies its approach based on promoting dialogue and international cooperation, and reflects international confidence in its role in facilitating dialogue and providing a supportive environment for constructive talks.
