UAE stem-cell researchers have secured intellectual property (IP) rights for the new COVID-19 stem-cell treatment.

The team from the Abu Dhabi Stem Cell Centre announced their unique treatment last month, which helps patients fight the virus and reduce the severity of the disease.

Initial results from trials have shown patients responding well to the treatment, after it was given to 73 individuals with moderate to severe coronavirus symptoms.

Researchers have confirmed that the treatment was effective and safe as an add-on to the standard care offered to patients.
