UAE President launches National Education Charter

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, along with the rulers of Dubai, Sharjah, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain and Ajman have signed the National Education Charter.

It sets out a unified foundation for the sector and reaffirms that education remains the cornerstone of the UAE’s development journey.

The event marks Emirati Day for Education, observed every year on February 28 following a directive from the UAE President in 2024.

The image posted by Sheikh Mohamed on social media platform X shows him standing alongside rulers of the six Emirates while signing the document.

"Together with the Rulers of the Emirates, I signed the National Education Charter, aimed at strengthening identity, building future skills, fostering integration between families, schools, and the community, and shaping a resilient education system that reflects our ambitions and strategic vision," Sheikh Mohamed wrote.

He added that the charter reaffirms the country's "commitment to advance education as the cornerstone of our national development, empowering individuals with the knowledge, values, and skills to contribute to our shared journey".

The charter was signed during a ceremony held at Qasr Al Bahr by Sheikh Mohamed, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah; His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah; His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Quwain; His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah; and His Highness Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman.

"Building individuals who are proud of their national identity, firmly rooted in the Arabic language and Islamic values, and equipped with the skills of the future is a steadfast national priority and a strategic objective. We are advancing this through a fully integrated national education system that places the learner at the heart of development and ushers in a new phase defined by clarity of purpose, policy coherence, and sustainable impact, Sheikh Mohamed added.
