President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has reiterated the UAE’s support for Syria’s unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity during talks with President Ahmad Al-Sharaa in Abu Dhabi.

During the meeting in Qasr Al Shati, Sheikh Mohamed wished Al-Sharaa success in leading Syria and reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to supporting the Syrian people as they "navigate the (five-year) transitional period and rebuild their country", national news agency Wam reported.

Sheikh Mohamed stressed that Syria’s stability and security are essential to the broader region and affirmed the UAE’s readiness to extend all possible support to Syria.

The leaders also reviewed the latest developments in Syria and exchanged views on regional and international developments, WAM added.

Al-Sharaa, who is in the UAE on a working visit, was welcomed upon arrival at Al Bateen Airport by His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, along with a number of senior officials.

During the talks, both sides also discussed ways to strengthen cooperation.

Syria’s new transitional government was officially sworn in on March 29, nearly four months after President Bashar al-Assad was ousted.
