UAE announces 277 new cases of COVID-19, 1 death

The UAE has confirmed 277 new cases of COVID-19.

According to Dr Farida Al Hosani, the official spokeswoman for the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), this now brings the total number of cases to 2,076.

Dr Farida revealed that 1 person has died from the virus, which makes the total number of deaths 11 in the country.

She also announced that 23 more people have recovered from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 167 .

Dr Farida reminded the public to wear a face-mask and gloves in public at all times, as it has been made mandatory by authorities.

Children should not be taken on supermarket trips, she added, for their own safety and as per the UAE government's instructions.

Only one family member can now leave the house to buy essentials.

Residents have also been urged by Dr Farida to stay at home, follow all the precautionary measures and avoid contact to help contain the spread of the coronavirus.
