Tributes pour in for Dubai fireman killed in line of duty

Tributes are pouring in for a firefighter who died while responding to a blaze in Dubai's Al Awir area.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai took to Twitter to express his condolences following the death of Sergeant Omar Khalifa Al Ketbi.

"Dubai will proudly remember Sergeant Omar Khalifa Al Ketbi, who was martyred while fulfilling the call of duty in a fire accident in Al Awir area," said Sheikh Hamdan.

"Civil defence men sacrifice everything to protect lives, property, and ensure the safety of our country," he added.

His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, also offered condolences to the family of Sergeant Al Ketbi.

Sheikh Maktoum, who is also the UAE's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, said: "Omar will remain alive in the memory of Dubai and the hearts of its people. Loyal men will remain alive with their great deeds."
