Sheikh Zayed Road transformed into a bustling cycle track on Sunday, with thousands hitting the highway for Dubai Ride, pedalling past some of the city's most iconic buildings as part of Dubai Fitness Challenge 2023.
Riders could choose two different routes, four kilometres and 12 kilometres, with the event beginning from five separate points at dawn.
The 12 km ride set off from Museum of the Future, Al Satwa, Coca-Cola Arena, Business Bay and Lower Financial Street, with the 4 km course starting in Downtown Dubai.
Both routes finished at Dubai Mall.
Dubai Ride, now in its fourth year, is the flagship event of Dubai Fitness Challenge, and is open to cyclists of all ages and abilities.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) closed Sheikh Zayed Road between the Trade Centre Roundabout and the second interchange, Lower Financial Centre Road, between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road, and one-way direction of Mohammed Bin Rashid Blvd from 3:30 am, reopening at 9am after the event.
