Sharjah Ruler announces new residential neighbourhood in Khorfakkan

WAM

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has unveiled "Al Ashkel Neighbourhood", a new residential area set to be built in Jabal Al Ashkel, Khorfakkan.

The new project will introduce several mountainous homes near the Khorfakkan Club for the Disabled with distinct features separate from the other residences overlooking the sea.

In a phone interview on the programme Direct Line, His Highness noted that the road in the area leading to the Al Rafisah will also be paved for the neighbourhood.

The Ruler of Sharjah also responded to recent concerns by the residents of Khorfakkan on a shortage of residential land in the city, particularly the exhaustion of housing in the Al Harray area.

He announced that there are 270 homes under construction in two groups to resolve the issue, including 120 homes in Al Mudeife whose plots have already been handed over to the Department of Housing.

He added that the additional plots in Al Harray area, previously allocated to holders of commercial licences, are now being handed over to the municipality, with construction expected to take approximately two years.

Sheikh Dr. Sultan also noted that similar projects are being implemented in the city of Kalba along the ring road, starting from Al Ghayl, then Al Saaf and Al Tareef, pointing out that construction has begun in Al Dahiyat residential neighbourhood.
