More people donating blood in Abu Dhabi

More than 34,000 units of blood were collected in Abu Dhabi in 2018.

That's according to the capital's blood bank, which said it welcomed close to 28,700 donors last year.

The figure has grown from 2017 when the Abu Dhabi Blood Bank collected just over 32,000 units.

Frequent blood donors (those who give blood every two months) formed nearly half of the total pool of donors

Health professionals say the rise is due to more awareness among residents about the importance of donating.
