The first summit marking new dialogue between the League of Arab States and the European Union has stressed that tackling common challenges can only be done through enhanced regional cooperation.
Leaders from the two blocs gathered for the Sharm El-Sheikh Summit Declaration, which also highlighted the need for greater cooperation with the United Nations and the African Union.
Migration, the protection of refugees and upholding international human rights laws were some of the shared objectives, as well as committing to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The next summit will take place in Brussels in 2022.
