H.H. Sheikh Mohammed says over AED2.8 billion raised for 'Edge of Life' campaign

WAM

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced on Monday that the "Edge of Life" Ramadan humanitarian campaign aimed at tackling global child hunger has raised more than AED2.8 billion.

In a message shared on social media, he said the campaign was intended to help save five million children from death caused by hunger and prevent 30 million others from falling into severe malnutrition.

The initiative received support from 44,000 contributors, including individuals, institutions, humanitarian organisations and major donors throughout the month of Ramadan.

His Highness thanked all those who contributed to the campaign and praised the efforts of charitable donors.

He added that humanitarian and charitable work in the United Arab Emirates is not limited to specific occasions, but forms a core part of the country’s national approach.

“The country that saves millions of lives around the world will be protected and guided by God,” he said, adding that charitable initiatives and humanitarian projects in the UAE will continue “under all circumstances”.

The campaign was launched as part of wider efforts by the UAE to support humanitarian causes and address food insecurity affecting vulnerable communities around the world.
