Gang of beggars in cars busted in Dubai

Authorities in Dubai are urging the public not to show sympathy to beggars or fall for their deceptive tactics to earn money.

The latest reminder comes following the arrest of a gang of beggars who used vehicles with number plates of neighbouring countries to carry out their crime.

According to Dubai Police, the Asian suspects, accompanied by women and children, targeted unsuspecting victims, claiming to be their compatriots who were stranded in the country.

Major General Jamal Salem Al Jallaf, Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigations, said that Dubai Police is continuing its efforts to combat begging as well as street peddling in collaboration with various partners.

He called on residents to be aware of these individuals who usually target people near mosques, clinics, hospitals, shops, and in the streets.

Al Jallaf also emphasised the importance of making donations only through registered charities and reporting beggars by calling 901 or through the Dubai Police app.
