How Artificial Intelligence will transform Dubai Taxi rides

Taxis in Dubai will incorporate Artificial Intelligence (AI) as part of a new digital transformation strategy to enhance safety and rider experiences.

The Driver Face Recognition System will help verify the driver’s identity and comply with security measures if the vehicle is used only by an unauthorised driver. It'll also help develop a Customer Voice Recognition System to verify the rider's identity and use Augmented Reality to improve their experience.

It is part of the Dubai Taxi Corporation's (DTC) wider strategy that's built on nine key drivers: AI, smart revenues, the Internet of Things, smart city, big data, governance, security systems & upgraded systems, process automation & paperless initiatives, future transformation, and smart services.

AI will also be used for chatbots to assist customers' inquiries and a system for Taxi Demand Prediction based on available data.

The initiative will also promote DTC’s services involved in the hiring of drivers and enhancing safety features by linking onboard sensors to control rooms to alert in case of malfunctions.

AI will also be used to develop a system for automating procedures and processes on the DTC App. It'll provide business highlights, a school bus trip tracking system for parents, simplified administrative procedures, and the ability to pay through the portal.

The digital strategy will run from 2022 to 2025.
