Dubai steps up safety checks on household gas distribution

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has ramped up its efforts to ensure safety in household gas distribution.

More than 4,300 field inspections were carried out across the emirate, resulting in 1,098 violations recorded between 2023 and mid-2025.

The joint campaigns, organised by the Dubai Regulatory Committee for Petroleum Products Trading and involving 15 entities, targeted unlicensed operations and counterfeit gas cylinders.

Saeed Al Ramsi from the RTA’s Licensing Agency said the inspections are vital to protect public health and the environment. Among the most serious violations were the use of fake or unverified gas cylinders and unauthorised transport activities.

Around 170 non-compliant vehicles were impounded.

Al Ramsi urged all businesses involved in gas distribution to strictly follow regulations and use only licensed vehicles.

He added that the RTA will continue its rigorous inspections to uphold safety standards.
