All private schools in Dubai will continue to function "as usual" when they reopen for the new term on January 3.

In a Tweet, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) clarified that "private schools in Dubai are not affected by the recent announcement & will be open as ‘usual’ next week".

The education regulatory body added that parents will continue to be able to select between "face-to-face or distance learning for their children".

It comes after Abu Dhabi approved remote learning for the first two weeks of the new school term, starting January 3.

Earlier, the UAE's Ministry of Education had announced that public schools will follow the distance-learning module for the new term.
