A Dubai police officer has raised the 'Spirit of the Union' banner atop the Jebel Jais mountain in Ras Al Khaimah after a 15-hour-and-15-minute-long trek.

Ahmad Zein Al Yafei from General Department of Airports Security said he completed the challenge to mark the UAE's 49th National Day and to express his deepest gratitude towards his force.

"I believe hiking is one of the most important sports in the world as it helps people learn to be persistent and patient. It also helps to confront difficulties and aids meditation," he said.

Al Yafei took the 'Stairway to Heaven path' to reach the UAE’s highest peak at 1,910 m above sea level.
