15.92 million people visited Dubai in 2018.

That's according to a report from the Department of Tourism and Commerce, which also revealed the figure is an increase of 0.8 per cent compared to 2017.

Dubai also took the number four spot as the most visited city in the world, for the fourth year running, according to the Mastercard Global Destination Cities Index (GDCI) 2018.

The emirate also tops the list of global cities with the highest international overnight visitor spend for the third year in a row.

The details come ahead of the 26th Arabian Travel Market, which is set to open on April 28th, running for four days until May 1st.

Anticipation is high on what new projects, ideas and developments will be unveiled during the exhibition.

This year's event carries the theme of innovation and technology, cementing Dubai as a popular and innovative city to visit.
