Dubai expands road network with new Al Rowaiyah corridor

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed Al Rowaiyah Street, a 3.5‑kilometre link connecting Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road with Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, near Dubai Silicon Oasis and Nadd Hessa.

The project provides direct entry and exit to both arterial roads, serving Nadd Hessa residential area, Dubai International Academic City, Dubai Silicon Oasis and Warsan 4.

As part of the project, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority roundabout on Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street has been upgraded into a signalised intersection to boost safety.

The RTA has also added two kilometres of dedicated cycling tracks to encourage healthy and sustainable mobility.

The upgrade increases capacity on Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street by up to 40 percent, and cuts travel time to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road from 10 minutes to just four — a 60 per cent reduction.

By 2030, these improvements are expected to benefit more than 80,000 residents.
