The UAE has recorded one of the lowest death rates from COVID-19.

From December 9 to December 15, the death rate in the country stood lowest at 0.3 per cent, National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority(NCEMA) stated in a series of tweets.

About 1,023,607 tests were conducted during the same period of which only one per cent were COVID-19 positive.

The figures were revealed during the UAE government's latest media briefing on Tuesday.

During the meeting, concern was raised over the ongoing winter vacations that leads to an increase in social activities.

“Although students need to be active and enjoy recreation time with family and friends, we call on everyone to adhere and to follow all of the preventive measures. Cooperation is required and important, especially in places where gatherings may occur during the vacation period," the authority tweeted.

It added that while studies have proved that those infected by COVID-19 with no minor or no symptoms don't necessarily have immunity against it. The vaccination of infected people depends mainly on the recommendation and evaluation of specialists.
