Alert: UAE withdraws aspirin brand

A brand of low-dose aspirin tablets has been recalled in the UAE for not complying with regulatory standards.

According to the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP), the pain reliever Jusprin (81mg) failed to meet the GCC region's guidelines for pharmaceutical products.

It has asked all healthcare professionals in the country to stop prescribing the drug, while pharmacies and hospitals have to return their stocks to the supplier.

Meanwhile, residents are urged to contact the ministry if they come across any side effects.

The drug, manufactured by Gulf Pharmaceutical Industries (Julphar) was prescribed for fever, mild pain and inflammation as well as to prevent heart attacks and strokes.
