The Louvre museum in Paris has been closed for a second day as management assesses the risks linked to COVID-19.

Several people were seen queuing up in front of the museum, as there was confusion around its opening hours.

"Today the opening of the Louvre is delayed. We will inform you about a potential opening time as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding," read signs in multiple languages at the main entrance area.

The museum had closed on Sunday after staff refused to open it over coronavirus fears.

Meanwhile, the Eiffel Tower and Disneyland Paris continue to operate as normal, with little clarity on whether the ban on large public gatherings extends to museums, tourist venues and theme parks.

So far, France has reported at least 130 cases of coronavirus and two deaths.
