The Advocate General and Head of the Terrorist Crimes Prosecution in Bahrain announced Thursday that 14 defendants across four cases have been referred to the Criminal Court.

Several are fugitives in Iran who formed separate cells, including a female defendant.

The Bahrain News Agency says the referral follows evidence that the defendants coordinated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to carry out hostile acts against Bahrain, including funding operations, receiving military training, and sharing classified state information.

They also spread false news, glorified hostile acts and gathered intelligence on sensitive sites.

The Public Prosecution confirmed that photos and data sent to the IRGC were used to target facilities in Bahrain.

Following detailed interrogations, witness testimonies and technical evidence, the defendants were ordered held in custody pending trial before the High Criminal Court.
