An 18-year-old protester who was shot by police during demonstrations in Hong Kong has been charged with rioting and assaulting an officer.
Tony Tsang took a bullet in the left shoulder as he fought a police officer with a metal pipe on Tuesday.
Police said it was an act of self-defence and urged the government to impose a curfew in a bid to curb the escalating violence.
The 18-year-old is still in a critical condition in hospital.
Thousands took to the streets on Thursday to denounce the shooting of Tony Tsang.
