Fears rise for 300 missing in Brazil dam disaster

The death toll following a dam collapse in Brazil last Friday is likely to exceed more than 300 people, with officials claiming it was unlikely that anyone would be found alive.

Grief over the sudden rise in the death toll has quickly hardened into anger towards the mining firm Vale, which claims that safety procedures were followed.

A top prosecutor, however, said the company should be criminally prosecuted and executives held personally responsible.

Brazil's Vice-President Hamilton Mourão added that those to blame should be punished.
