A passenger train rammed into a stationary freight train in Pakistan's eastern province, killing at least 11 people and injuring 60 others.

According to reports, the speeding Quetta-bound Akbar Express collided with the freight train at the Walhar Railway Station in the Punjab province after running on the wrong track.

Officials say the death toll is likely to go up, with some of the injured passengers in a critical condition.

Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed ordered authorities to take emergency steps to counter decades of neglect of railway infrastructure and ensure safety standards.
