UAE, Russia to strengthen economic ties

WAM

The United Arab Emirates and Russia have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening economic cooperation during a high-level meeting in Dubai.

Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, the UAE’s Minister of Economy and Tourism, said the two countries enjoy “strategic relations” founded on shared interests, following the 12th session of the Russia–UAE Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic and Technical Cooperation.

The talks, co-chaired by Mr Bin Touq and Russian Industry and Trade Minister Anton Alikhanov, brought together senior officials and private-sector representatives from both sides.

Mr Bin Touq said the latest session marked “a new step” in building partnerships between Emirati and Russian businesses, particularly in sectors linked to the new economy. He highlighted the UAE’s flexible investment environment, including laws that allow full foreign ownership of companies and access to more than 2,000 licensed economic activities.

Discussions covered a wide range of fields, including investment, energy, industry, food security, education, logistics, tourism, culture and environmental protection.

Both countries agreed to continue developing new mechanisms for cooperation and to support entrepreneurs seeking to expand in each other’s markets.
