Sharjah edge closer to Arabian Gulf League title

Sharjah moved a step closer to clinching the Arabian Gulf League following a 2-2 draw with defending champions Al Ain on Wednesday.

Brazilian striker Welliton struck the crucial equalizer for Sharjah two minutes from time.

They remain unbeaten this season and need only five more points to seal the title.

Elsewhere, second-placed Shabab Al Ahli Dubai are now 10 points behind Sharjah after losing 1-0 at home to Al Wahda.

In other games, Fujairah held Al Wasl to a 3-3 draw, while Al Dhafra overcame Baniyas 1-0.
