Having beaten Australia in the Rugby World Cup final, New Zealand was again celebrating on Tuesday as their own Prince of Penzance claimed a stunning Emirates Melbourne Cup win. Ridden by the only female jockey in the field, Michelle Payne, Prince of Penzance stayed the course before romping home in the final furlong. In winning 'the race that stops a nation', Payne becomes the first female to achieve the feat in its 155-year history. Max Dynamite, ridden by Frankie Dettori, came home second while another New Zealand owned horse, Criterion, was third.
