FIFA cancels Arab Cup third-place match

WAM

Adverse weather conditions forced the cancellation of the FIFA Arab Cup third place playoff between the UAE and Saudi Arabia in Doha on Thursday.

FIFA said this action was taken by the referee and match officials to ensure the safety of all the players, fans and staff at the Khalifa International Stadium.

The second half was about to get underway when heavy rain made it impossible to resume play. The first half of the match had ended goalless.

The decision to award the third place winner will be decided in due course by the relevant committee within FIFA.
