Pyramids forward Fiston Mayele scored a hat-trick to lead his side to the African-Asian-Pacific Cup title, following a 3-1 win over AFC Champions League winners Al-Ahli of Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.

The African champions will play in the Challenger Cup against the winner of the match between Mexico's Cruz Azul and the CONMEBOL champions on December 13, for a place in the Intercontinental Cup final against European champions Paris St Germain four days later.

Mayele opened the scoring for the Egyptian side in the 21st minute, and the goal stood after a VAR review.

Ivan Toney equalised from the penalty spot just before the interval.

Al-Ahli pushed in the second half, but Pyramids goalkeeper Ahmed El-Shenawy saved Franck Kessie's header following a corner in the 67th minute before the Egypt international helped set up the second goal for his side.

El-Shenawy played a long ball to Zalaka, who delivered a low cross to Mayele, who made it 2-1 in the 71st minute.

The Democratic Republic of Congo forward scored Pyramids' third goal after the ball came back off Al-Ahli goalkeeper Edouard Mendy in the 74th minute.
