Real Madrid took control of their Champions League last-16 tie with Roma with a 2-0 win in the Italian capital. Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring in the first leg, taking control of a long pass before firing the ball into the top corner via a deflection. Jese then added a second late on, running at Roma’s tiring defence before unleashing a low drive past Wozniak Szczesny. In last night’s other game, Wolfsburg survived a late comeback at Gent to secure an away win. The German side were three goals to the good by the hour mark, thanks to a Julian Draxler double and a strike by Max Kruse. However, the home side continued to fight, with Sven Kums' brilliant hit on 80 minutes and Kalifa Coulibaly's last-minute header keeping the underdogs in the tie.
