Bangladesh made a strong start to their Asia Cup campaign with a seven-wicket win over Hong Kong in their Group B match in Abu Dhabi on Thursday.

Chasing a target of 144, they sealed the victory with 14 balls to spare, thanks to a solid 59 from captain Litton Das.

Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Bangladesh restricted Hong Kong to a modest 143 for 7 in 20 overs.

Young pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib starred with the ball, claiming 2 for 21, including the key wickets of Zeeshan Ali (30 off 34) and Babar Hayat (14 off 12).

Taskin Ahmed (2/38) and leg-spinner Rishad Hossain (2/31) also provided crucial breakthroughs.

Nizakat Khan top-scored for Hong Kong with 42 runs off 40 balls.

Bangladesh’s chase was anchored by skipper Das, who struck a 39-ball 59, with Towhid Hridoy (35* off 36) and Parvez Hossain Emon (19 off 14) playing supporting roles.
