The eighth batch of wounded Palestinian children and cancer patients have arrived in the UAE to receive medical treatment.

The plane, which departed from Eypt's Al Arish International Airport, landed in Abu Dhabi, carrying 28 Palestinians in urgent need of medical assistance, and 35 members of their families.

They were flown to Abu Dhabi, under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to provide medical treatment for 1,000 injured children and 1,000 cancer patients from the Gaza Strip in the UAE's hospitals.

Since the outbreak of the war, the UAE has been a steadfast supporter of Gaza, launching Operation 'Gallant Knight 3' on November 5, 2023, to provide humanitarian assistance to the people there.

A 150-bed field hospital was established in Gaza, catering to 1,098 cases so far, while the UAE's hospitals have received 395 Palestinian children and cancer patients.

The UAE also launched six desalination plants in Rafah, Egypt, to address the dire water infrastructure situation in Gaza. These plants desalinate about 1.2 million gallons of water per day, and pump them through pipes that extend into Gaza.

Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates University has welcomed 33 students from the Gaza Strip to study at the expense of the UAE goveenment.
