UAE rings in New Year with spectacular celebrations

The UAE bid farewell to 2020 in style, accompanied by more than 30 different fireworks shows and a host of other events in various emirates.

The festivities have been held in adherence to all precautionary health and safety measures.

To avoid overcrowding and ensure social distancing, the events have been spread across various locations in each emirate.

In Dubai, the celebrations were led by a grand masterpiece of fireworks, light and laser show on the Burj Khalifa, while spectacular displays were also held at Abu Dhabi Corniche and the Sheikh Zayed Festival in Al Wathba.

Sharjah's Al Majaz Waterfront, Ras Al Khaimah's Al Marjan Island, Ajman Corniche and Fujairah Corniche also put up special shows.

Ras Al Khaimah ushered in 2021 with one of the world's largest fireworks displays. The 10-minute show featured 8,500 kg of fireworks lighting up the Arabian Sea over a length of 4 km and width of 3.9 km.
