The UAE's President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held talks with Vietnam's Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.

The meeting at Qasr Al Watan focused on bilateral relations between the two countries and opportunities to develop them further.

Sheikh Mohamed and the Vietnamese Vice President reviewed various aspects of cooperation between the UAE and Vietnam, especially in the areas of investment, economic development, renewable energy and food security.

The two leaders discussed the COP28 climate conference to be held in the UAE later this year, with His Highness stating that the UAE was looking forward to Vietnam’s effective participation in joint international efforts to address the impact of climate change.

He added that UAE-Vietnam relations have witnessed continuous growth since their formal establishment in 1993, and welcomed the signing of a Joint Declaration of Intent to launch talks aimed at establishing a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement that will further boost bilateral ties.

Sheikh Mohamed also thanked Vietnam for supporting the UAE's efforts to become a partner in the dialogue of the Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Vo Thi Anh Xuan expressed her appreciation for the warm welcome she received in the UAE, stressing that Vietnam is keen to strengthen relations in various fields to advance both countries’ development efforts.
