The UAE has expressed deep concern over the continued military escalation by the two warring parties in several areas of Sudan, including El Obeid, and the impact on civilians and the worsening humanitarian situation.

In a statement, the UAE condemned attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure, calling on both sides to allow safe passage and support humanitarian corridors.

The country stressed the urgent need for a humanitarian truce and a permanent ceasefire.

The UAE also reaffirmed its support for international and regional efforts to achieve lasting peace in Sudan, including the outcomes of the Berlin Conference, as well as the consultations held in Addis Ababa from June 3-5 to advance the establishment of the preparatory committee for a comprehensive Sudanese dialogue.

It added that a political solution remains the key path towards restoring security, stability and a better future for the Sudanese people.
