The UAE has announced 53 new cases of COVID-19.

That’s according to the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), which clarified that this now brings the total number of cases to 664.

The ministry explained that the recently diagnosed residents came in contact with people who were infected with the virus but did not adhere to the preventative measures and quarantine guidelines set by the UAE.

Officials also revealed that one more person has died from the virus, which brings the total number of deaths to six in the country.

They clarified that the 67-year-old Asian national suffered from a number of chronic heart-diseases, blood pressure problems and had diabetes which led to several health complications.

Numbers released by authorities show that of the 53 cases, 31 were Indian nationals, while four came from the UAE, three from the UK and two each from Egypt and Nepal.

The rest came from Algeria, Lebanon, Pakistan, Iran, Kuwait, Switzerland, Turkey, the Philippines, Italy, France and the United States of America.
