Sustainable transport drive hits milestone in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi's green bus fleet has covered more than 1.3 million eco-friendly kilometres since launching operations in 2024.

Abu Dhabi Mobility (Integrated Transport Centre), said the achievement highlights the emirate’s fast move towards a more sustainable transport system, and its commitment to low-emission, smart mobility solutions.

The fleet includes buses powered by electric energy and hydrogen fuel cell technology, reflecting the growing use of clean transport across the public sector.

Dr. Abdullah Hamad Al Ghafli, Acting Director General, says passing the one-million-kilometre mark demonstrates the success of investing in clean technology to improve efficiency and passenger experience, while supporting the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 goals.

Marking World Public Transport Day on April 17, the centre also launched a 'Public Transport to Work' initiative for its employees.

The campaign encourages staff to use public buses for their daily commute, helping to reduce traffic, cut emissions and promote more sustainable lifestyles.
