Summer rest stops ready for Dubai delivery riders

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has confirmed the full operational readiness of air-conditioned rest areas for delivery riders ahead of the summer season.

The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety, reduce accident risks, enhance riders’ wellbeing and encourage compliance with traffic regulations.

Maintenance and upgrade works have now been completed at around 40 rest areas across key locations in Dubai, including Hessa Street, Al Khawaneej, Al Barsha, Al Satwa, Oud Maitha, Al Karama and Arjan.

The sites were selected based on delivery demand data and studies carried out in coordination with delivery companies.

The RTA says the project reflects its commitment to supporting the growing delivery sector by providing riders with safe and comfortable spaces to rest during working hours.

Ahmed Mahboob, CEO of the RTA’s Licensing Agency, says traffic safety remains the authority’s top priority as Dubai continues its drive to become a global leader in road safety.

He added that the RTA has established a comprehensive governance framework for the delivery sector to strengthen oversight and improve service standards.

Each rest area has been designed to minimise the impact of direct sunlight and improve thermal insulation.

The facilities are equipped with air conditioning, drinking water dispensers and mobile phone charging stations, while most can accommodate around 10 riders at a time.

Dedicated motorcycle parking and other rider-focused amenities are also provided.
