Dubai is to have the world’s first points-based award programme for recognising excellence in labour welfare practices. Named Taqdeer, the Arabic word for ‘appreciation’, it’s been launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council. The initiative acknowledges the significant contribution to the UAE’s development made by the labour force. Focusing on the construction sector in its first year, the award aims to promote international best practices in labour welfare.
