H.H. Sheikh Hamdan reviews RTA's smart mobility projects

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, has reviewed a number of specialised initiatives and strategic projects undertaken by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority.

The projects include the rapid intervention vehicle, the smart bus station and soft mobility parking facilities.

The visit reflects Sheikh Hamdan’s focus on closely monitoring government performance through direct field inspections, while ensuring major projects are progressing in line with operational targets and timelines. It also supports faster project delivery, maximises the developmental impact of initiatives and contributes to improving quality of life for citizens, residents and visitors.

Among the projects reviewed was the rapid intervention vehicle, developed to strengthen the Authority’s readiness in responding to emergencies and heavy rainfall while maintaining traffic flow across the emirate.

The vehicle is equipped with four advanced pumps with a combined capacity of up to 60,000 litres per minute, equivalent to the operational efficiency of 10 traditional pumps or 25 water tankers. Its pumping speed can reach around 1,000 litres per second, significantly improving response times during adverse weather conditions.

Sheikh Hamdan also reviewed the Smart Bus Station project, which is designed to transform customer services into a fully digital, contactless and paperless experience. The station integrates with the Nol card and the Sahl app, allowing passengers to access transport services more smoothly and efficiently.

Another key project is the Flexible Mobility Parking initiative, which aims to regulate and support the use of bicycles and electric scooters across the city. The parking facilities feature modern shaded designs that protect users from direct sunlight, alongside scooter-charging capabilities and smart systems for monitoring usage.

Officials added that the project also creates new advertising and commercial investment opportunities while supporting Dubai’s broader sustainability and mobility goals.

The visit forms part of Sheikh Hamdan’s continued efforts to ensure strategic infrastructure projects are delivered efficiently and aligned with Dubai’s vision for smarter, safer and more connected urban living.
