The Emirates Red Crescent has sent an aid cargo plane to the cyclone-hit province of Socotra in Yemen today. Under the directive of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, president of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, the Red Crescent plane is filled with 20 tonnes of emergency food, blankets and tents to be distributed to the people affected by the recent cyclone. The UAE continues its framework of humanitarian efforts on a large scale in Yemen. Earlier this week, we heard that the cost of humanitarian and development programmes undertaken by the Emirates Red Crescent in Yemen has reached over AED 664 million.
