Dubai Police is intensifying its road safety awareness efforts coinciding with the 'Summer Without Accidents' campaign organised by the Ministry of Interior.

The initiative, which runs until September 1, is part of efforts to reduce the number of traffic accidents and related injuries and fatalities across the country.

During a press conference on Monday, officials respresenting Dubai Police, Ras Al Khaimah Police, the Federal Traffic Council and other entities emphasised the importance of the annual campaign in integrating the efforts of various police agencies to enhance road safety and security.

They called on motorists to adhere to speed limits, avoid distractions while driving, maintain a safe distance between vehicles, and take preventive measures such as checking the condition of tyres and not leaving lighters, perfumes, batteries, power banks, hand sanitisers, gas cylinders and other flammable items inside the vehicle.

During the press conference, Major General Abdulla Ali Al Ghaithi, Assistant Commandant for Operations Affairs at Dubai Police, highlighted the number of traffic-related fatalities in Dubai during the summer months (June 1 to August 31) over the past three years:

  • 2023: 30 deaths, 45 severe injuries, 308 moderate injuries and 283 minor injuries
  • 2022: 36 deaths, 35 severe injuries, 314 moderate injuries and 315 minor injuries
  • 2021: 26 deaths, 41 severe injuries, 178 moderate injuries and 217 minor injuries
