Dubai Police and the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) have discussed new measures to reduce traffic accidents involving heavy vehicles.

During a coordination meeting, officials reviewed accident data and analysed the main factors contributing to crashes involving trucks and other heavy vehicles.

Brigadier Essam Ibrahim Al Awar, Deputy Director of Dubai Police's General Department of Traffic, stressed the importance of close cooperation between government entities to improve road safety and prevent accidents.

He noted that heavy vehicles play a vital role in supporting economic growth, but said maintaining high safety standards remains essential through regular vehicle inspections, driver preparedness and strict compliance with traffic regulations.

The two sides also explored ways to strengthen monitoring systems, identify high-risk locations and use data-driven solutions to make Dubai's roads safer for all users.
