A court in Abu Dhabi has handed down sentences to three individuals involved in an assault during the recent Egyptian Super Cup semi-final match between Zamalek and Pyramids.

The defendants have been sentenced to one month in prison and fined AED 200,000 each.

They were found guilty of assaulting public employees while they were on duty and engaging in actions that disrupted public order and incited riots among fans at the match, held on October 20 in Abu Dhabi.

The court said that a thorough examination of the case revealed sufficient evidence against the defendants.

Testimonies from victims during the Public Prosecution’s investigation were consistent with video footage from the incident, which showed the trio failing to adhere to regulations.

Egyptian media reports have stated that the defendants include two Zamalek footballers and the team's sporting director.
