Two people were killed on Saturday as a result of heavy thunderstorms that hit several governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.

The Civil Defense and Ambulance Authority (CDAA) stated that its teams responded since yesterday afternoon to 14 reports of people trapped inside vehicles in valleys and water bodies, where nine people were rescued, while two deaths were recorded in the Wilayat of Barka, South Al Batinah Governorate.

This takes the total number of Oman's storm-related deaths to four.

The National Early Warning Center pointed to the multiple risks of continued chances of thunderstorms on Sunday in several governorates, which may be accompanied by hail and active winds.

The effects are expected to include the governorates of Al Buraimi, North and South Al Batinah, Al Dhahirah, Al Dakhiliyah, Muscat, in addition to parts of North and South Al Sharqiyah.
