Kuwait's Ministry of Interior says the State Security Service has foiled a terrorist plot targeting key installations in the country.

In a televised statement, spokesman Brigadier Nasser Abusulaib said authorities dismantled sleeper cells seeking to undermine national security.

He said 10 Kuwaiti citizens linked to the banned Hezbollah were arrested after intensive surveillance.

The suspects are accused of coordinating with foreign contacts and planning to pass on coordinates of targeted sites.

Investigations found the group had received weapons and drone training at Hezbollah camps abroad in preparation for sabotage operations.

Officials say the plot aimed to destabilise the country and spread fear.

The Interior Ministry warned it will act firmly against any threats to national security, stressing that those involved will face the maximum penalties.
