India extends ban on international flights

MANJUNATH KIRAN / AFP

India has extended its ban on international commercial flights until July 15.

The restriction will not apply to cargo operations or other flights approved by the country’s aviation regulator.

According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), “international scheduled flights may be allowed on selected routes on case to case basis”.

All passenger flights were suspended when the country went into a lockdown in March to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Domestic services resumed on May 25, but international flights remained suspended barring cargo and special repatriation flights taking stranded Indians home.
