Airbnb bans ‘party houses’ after 5 killed in California shooting

Airbnb is cracking down on unauthorised house parties following a shooting at a rental home in California that left five people dead.

That's the word from the company's CEO Brian Chesky, who took to Twitter to explain that the San Francisco-based company would expand manual screening of "high risk" reservations and remove guests who fail to comply with the new policies.

"We must do better, and we will. This is unacceptable," he tweeted, adding that a "rapid response team" will be formed to respond to reports of unauthorised parties.

Five people were killed during a shootout at a Halloween party on Thursday night in the suburb of Orinda.
